This Week at CaféJazz.ca:
Part of our encore series - Ed #381 (original air Oct. 23rd, 2005)
... on the next show it's Jay Soto in the spotlight as part of a 2005 encore. We'll tell you a bit about Jay and his career, & we'll spin a few selected tracks from Long Time Coming, all on the showcase feature. In hour two it'll be the Back Trax segment; highlights include great golden listening from the likes of Eric Marienthal, Michael Franks, & the band Fattburger. Also cued is Torcuato Mariano plus there's Tom Grant - you won't be disappointed. In the meantime, sit back, relax, and get set for two full hours of pure listening pleasure as we get things going with Paul Brown … on Café Jazz, your soundtrack to musical adventure!
On After Hours … Not-Ready-for Radio Special:
On this edition, we're set to outdo everybody with music that's Not Ready for Radio. The premise behind the feature was to select a few great tunes unlikely to be played on commercial air given today's radio climate. Now perhaps the title should have been Music that Radio is Not Ready For, but even so we stuck with Not Ready for Radio. We scoured the planet and came up with great Smooth Jazz from far away places - South Africa, Germany, The UK, South America, and Australia as well as points beyond and in between. We've played each of these selections in the past, but now they're all in one place at one time - two full hours, 17 tracks in all. In hour one, there's Ray Obiedo, DTTB, and Chieli Minucci. Then in the second hour it'll be David Garfield, Brian Hughes, & Fourplay. I don't think there's anybody anywhere that's going to come even close to what you're about to hear; so to begin today's journey it's Peter White with Endless Journey, getting us underway on a Not Ready for Radio special!
