I just got the idea to try the embed feature, I've never done this before, so it's probably not going to work, but here we go (Dave Brubeck- 'Take Five'.

Scofields great mastery...
Posted November 3, 2008 by ulfskei

I was just searching youtube for some bebop guitar, and met with this wonderful tune

Mr Scofield in action.

There's so much to learn just from following a good player, the phrasing, the timing, the clothing, the whatnots of a super jazzer on the go. Click and enjoy, if you will...

Peace

Bebop playlist...
Posted November 2, 2008 by ulfskei

I just added a link to Jazzerman's excellent bebop playlist in the 'turn ons' section on my page. For those who haven't seen it, it is:

So fine list of lots of tunes, and hints for me among others, who want to learn bebop guitar...

The route...
Posted November 2, 2008 by ulfskei

And so a new venture starts.

Hi to all around, and here we go.

I'm really excited about being part of this new super site, and hope it becomes as good as it could be!

Me myself I think it will be, and I certainly enjoy the outlooks and what it might be.

I'm primarily here to gather knowledge and learning, I'm one of the guys who struggle to learn jazz. Which is my prime reason for living, if not the only one. The feeling I get from playing, or hearing, jazz, is above and beyond anything else I can imagine.

So there is nowhere else I'd rather be than here right now.

Hmm...

Well, it's like trying to get the timing right on 'Boplicity'. A tune not too advanced at first glance. But Listening carefully to it I gather a lot of info on How to hold your notes, how to stop from hurrying, how to make love to the leadsheet and pick it with caution. Just to make it SOUND easy and straight on, when it's a matter of miliseconds and resting a fraction of a beat, adding the color aquamarine to your flowing sequence, let the music breathe and FEEL Miles Davis (which is by no means an easy task) deep inside ones mind, or whichever tune your trying to do with feeling...

This is where I want to be right now, and hopefully for a long time!

Peace

Skei (the learner/living it one)
